A Danish content creator on Twitch is facing a significant financial penalty for endorsing an unauthorized gaming platform during their live broadcast. The Gaming Authority of Denmark (Spillemyndigheden) imposed a 10,000 Danish kroner fine (approximately $1,457 USD) on the streamer, a penalty they have agreed to pay. This instance represents the first occasion where Danish regulators have pursued action against a streamer for illicit gambling promotions.

Although the authorities have not disclosed the identity of the streamer or the involved gaming enterprise, it is evident that they are taking stringent measures against such promotional activities. This particular case emerged after a report was filed against the streamer for advertising the unlicensed platform during their stream. Law enforcement concurred with the gambling authority’s evaluation and proceeded to issue the fine.

This is not an isolated occurrence. The Danish Gaming Authority has been actively engaged in blocking access to illegal websites and recently took action against Betfair for breaches of anti-money laundering regulations. In a similar vein, Twitch itself has implemented measures to address gambling advertisements on its platform, prohibiting sites such as Blaze and Gamdom. The message appears to be unambiguous: promotions for unauthorized gambling activities will not be condoned.

The streaming platform Twitch will no longer allow websites focused on wagering. The company cites a desire to protect its community, particularly from exploitative betting sites.
