The Belgian administration has declared that the nation will be placed under a countrywide lockdown once more, and all establishments offering gambling services will be shut down until at least mid-December.
The Belgian government has issued a new lockdown directive that further limits land-based gambling.
Casinos, amusement arcades, and wagering shops were instructed to close their doors from October 28 to November 19 as part of enhanced coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions, but this shutdown period has now been extended under the lockdown order.
Kiosks with gambling terminals must also guarantee that these machines are switched off during the lockdown, but they are permitted to continue other activities that the government considers essential.
Non-essential stores and enterprises that provide personal services must also close, while existing nighttime curfews and the closure of bars and restaurants will remain in effect.
This is the second nationwide lockdown in Belgium this year, with the first taking place in March when gambling venues were closed. Betting shops began reopening in June, followed by casinos the subsequent month.
On November 1, Belgium recorded 16,915 new Covid-19 cases and 173 related fatalities.
