The Portuguese Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) declared yesterday (May 19th) that it has endorsed the regulation. The rule goes into effect today (May 20th), and the country’s legal framework for online gaming and gambling has been modified to accommodate crash games.
Crash games are a game of chance where players wager against the house. These games are based on a multiplier that begins at 1 and can increase to 100.
The player’s objective is to withdraw their wager before the game concludes. If they succeed, they will receive the amount of their initial wager multiplied by the multiplier. If they fail, they forfeit their wager.
The legislation specifies that the multiplier will range from 1x to 100x. Furthermore, the player return rate must be at least 80%.
Licensed operators in the country can now apply for authorization to offer these games.
In March, the SRIJ issued a prohibition on the publication of live sports betting odds online or in venues.
