SimWin Sports, a firm that develops fantasy sports within the virtual realm, has joined forces with Sports Illustrated (SI).
This is a significant development for SimWin, as SI will serve as their official collaborator. This agreement grants SimWin the right to utilize SI’s brand name and emblem on their platform.
The chief executive of SimWin, David Ortiz, is enthusiastic about the partnership. He believes it will facilitate SimWin’s expansion to a wider audience and attract a greater number of supporters.
SimWin’s metaverse is a virtual environment where digital athletes compete in teams owned by renowned sports figures. Among the stars already associated with SimWin are Magic Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Jerry Rice, and Marshall Faulk.
Sports Illustrated is a renowned sports publication. In 2019, a company known as Authentic Brands Group acquired the rights to the SI name for a substantial sum.
Where sports and popular culture collide, Sports Illustrated’s entry into the virtual world is a logical progression for the most reputable name in the athletic realm,” declared Dan Dienst, Executive Vice President of Strategic Opportunities at Authentic.
“As Authentic continues to expand its sports, media, and Web3 ventures, we’re delighted to collaborate with SimWin and proudly claim ownership of a squad in SimWin’s virtual sports league.”
The 888 Collaboration
In June of 2021, SI revealed that its gaming platform, Sports Illustrated Sportsbook, would be fueled by the London-based gaming enterprise, 888.
The agreement granted Authentic exclusive rights to the SI brand and trademarks for online sports wagering and iGaming, alongside advertising and editorial integration on specific SI-branded digital assets.
In April of 2022, 888 appointed media veteran Howard Mittman to guide SI Sportsbook, designating the former Bleacher Report CEO as president of its U.S. operations.
The 888-powered sportsbook is presently accessible in three states: Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia.
