The Edinburgh-based Hibernian Football Club has inked a long-term sponsorship agreement with betting firm Marsbet.
The three-year deal, valued at a six-figure amount, will feature the Marsbet emblem on the shorts of the Scottish Premiership squad’s men’s primary team.
Marsbet has already forged partnerships with clubs like EC Juventude in Brazil, FK Austria Wien in Austria, and FC Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine.
Established in 2013 and run by Alpha Entertainment, Marsbet holds a Curaçao license.
A Hibernian representative stated: “The club is dedicated to promoting responsible gambling among our supporters, just as we do with responsible drinking, and the Hibernian Community Foundation will continue to run alcohol and gambling awareness initiatives.”
A Marsbet representative said: “As a wagering company, Marsbet acknowledges its duty to its clientele, partners, prospective clients, and staff, and is committed to providing the finest experience. We are thrilled to join forces with Hibernian Football Club, one of the top clubs in Scotland.”
In June, Edinburgh City, a Scottish fourth-tier team, declared their backing for a movement to prohibit betting advertising in Scottish football contests.
The Edinburgh City Council head, Jim Brown, after lending his support to the “Big Step” initiative, stated: “We’ve made the decision to adopt a moral stance in all our collaborations.
“The recent health crisis has revealed that football possesses a tremendous capacity to drive positive transformation, and therefore we are convinced that, in relation to physical and mental well-being, we ought to exclusively endorse uplifting messages.”
