The Ritz-Carlton hotel and casino in Macau has been shuttered due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Asian gambling center has experienced a significant rise in cases, resulting in the closure.
The Macau Government Tourism Office’s Lin Litong declared the closure at a news conference. A total of 17 structures in the area have been shut down due to similar outbreaks.
Macau reported 146 new infections on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases since June to over 1,000. More than 14,000 individuals are currently in quarantine throughout the city.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the resort’s proprietor, stated that they will continue to enforce stringent prevention and control measures as the well-being and safety of all visitors and employees is their paramount concern.
This news comes shortly after Macau’s legislative body approved substantial modifications to casino regulations.
