Iowa sports wagering earnings achieved a peak not seen in almost two years during October, while the state also witnessed its highest income in a year.
Iowa sports wagering earnings hit a 21-month high in October
Iowa bettors placed $255.3 million (£207.6 million/€238.5 million) on sporting events in October. This figure signifies a 6.9% increase from $238.8 million in October 2022 and a 3.9% increase from $245.8 million in September of this year.
The total also marks the highest since a record $303.3 million in January 2022, 21 months ago.
Of all bets placed in October, $231.8 million was wagered online and $23.5 million was wagered at retail sportsbooks in Iowa.
Iowa’s sports betting earnings reached $24.2 million in October. This figure signifies a 26.7% increase from $19.1 million last year and is slightly higher than $24.1 million in September of this year.
Moreover, the total revenue in October is the highest monthly revenue since $25.4 million was generated in September 2022.
Diamond Jo Dubuque leads the way in Iowa
Diamond Jo Dubuque and its partner FanDuel continued to dominate the Iowa market in October. The partnership generated a total of $6.5 million in revenue on $62.8 million in wagers.
Jefferson’s Wild Rose and DraftKings came in second with $3.6 million in revenue on $43.4 million in wagers. DraftKings’ partner, the sister property Wild Rose in Clinton, came in third with $3 million in revenue on $32.3 million in wagers.
Emmitsburg’s Wild Rose, in collaboration with DraftKings, had a prosperous October. The partnership generated $2.9 million in earnings from $26.8 million in wagers, yielding $1.6 million in sports betting taxes for October. Gamblers won a total of $225.3 million.
